Community leaders and innovators gathered at the Nashville Public Library on Tuesday January 21, 2014 for the annual Nashville Business Incubation Center (NBIC) Stakeholder’s Meeting. The yearly event, hosted by the board of directors, serves as a time for the organization to reflect upon the achievements of the past year, honor small business clients that have performed exceptionally well, won awards and achieved milestones, as well as announce the organization’s plans for the year ahead.
Guests heard from keynote speaker, Donald Hardin, Jr. of the Don Hardin Group. An NBIC graduate (known as a “mighty oak”) Hardin shared a message aimed at educating the audience and highlighting the organization’s impact on his company. His inspiring speech, “When Small Thinks Big,” centered around the mindset and tenacity necessary to grow small businesses into large success stories.
Graduates and current clients were then recognized for their dedication to their personal business’ growth as well as their contribution to the local economy with NBIC awards presented during the program. Winners included Gobble Books, winner of the Tiger Tank Award, Spring Clean Cleaning, winner of the Chairman’s Award, and A-Z DME, winner of the Mighty Oak Award.
A-Z DME also celebrated graduation from NBIC, done two years earlier than the typical time frame of clients who are able to grow within the program for five years. A-Z DME met their goals within three years. We’re very proud of Dinah and John and happy to know that we could play a part in your success.
Community members were also honored for their contributions to the NBIC. Charlie Payne of StaffOne received the Volunteer Award, and Charlotte Peacock of Pinnacle Financial Partners won the Partnership Award. Community leaders like Charlie and Charlotte help the NBIC to grow and have a greater impact on Nashville and the region.
Thank you to everyone who worked hard to make this event possible. We look forward to continued success in 2014.
